Changing mobility behaviour is not just about offering alternatives,  it’s about helping people let go of deeply rooted habits. In Breaking the Car Habit, we explore concrete projects that invite people to step out of their private cars and experience shared mobility and other sustainable options first-hand. From trial campaigns and test weeks to targeted communication and personal guidance, this session highlights what it takes to truly shift mindsets. We also present new research on “car shedding” – examining whether and under what conditions people actually give up their private car when attractive sharing options are available to them.

Setlist

Fieke Jongsma

Braking habits is tough. As behavioral expert Fieke knows this as no other. In collaboration with the ministry, she developed five creative, behavior-based interventions to promote car sharing. These interventions target different audiences and were developed in collaboration with municipalities, service providers, and the car-sharing working group. The last year these interventions have been battle tested in multiple municipalities. Do these scientifically backed interventions also work in practice? Find out in Fieke’s presentation!
